Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By using Oneida County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

We retain a message sent to us long enough to respond and manage the correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers receive basic technical details when a page loads:

  • Page-view times and the pages visited
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • The device's assigned IP address
  • Approximate time spent on a page
  • The referring site, when available

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and our analytics services help combine traffic information, such as which pages receive visits and where sessions end. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Detecting and repairing technical problems
  • Routing a submitted search to the selected partner
  • Measuring which pages are useful to visitors
  • Operating the site and maintaining performance
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Oneida County guidance identifies official sources such as the Sheriff's Office, Circuit Court, Wisconsin Crime Information Bureau, and Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a file about another person or into a consumer report. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. A query sent through one of their tools is subject to that company's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. Review those terms before submitting information because we do not control them.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Oneida County government, Wisconsin courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search providers. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across sites and select targeted ads. We do not operate that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a query sent to them
  • Advertising networks serving ads on these pages
  • A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Standard security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.

Your Data Rights

Rights can depend on the law where a visitor lives. Wisconsin's Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31-19.39, governs access to government records held by offices such as Oneida County, not visitor data kept by this private site. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:

  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Ask what personal information we hold about them
  • Object to certain forms of processing
  • Request deletion where applicable law permits it
